Hey, happy Tuesday! Madeline and I are almost done with this challenge and I'm already preparing for December: glitter. I have about 784731897487198 indie glitters that can use my attention so next month's challenge is perfect! Let me know if you'd like to join, Amanda already signed on!
Today I have Ray-diant for you which is from one of their recent collections that I actually totally ignored. I ended up getting this in a random grab bag and I kind of fell in love instantly - I can see this being a really great accent nail that would match a lot of other polishes.
I wish I could tell you what color this is but I honestly don't even know. It's primarily silver but there's a bunch of other glitters sparsely thrown in so just look at the enlarged version and see for yourself - it's quite lovely :)

Amanda

Sparkle Sunday: Wet n Wild Sugar Coat + Some Magic
Hello there! How's everyone doing? As I write this, I'm waiting for my nails to dry since I've smudged and redone them about three times now. Sighhhh, nail blogger problems! It seems like every time I paint my nails, everyone calls or texts me, I have tons of doors to open, my bed needs to be made, etc.!
Anywho, today I have a lovely polish I bought from Steph's blog sale (I've been blog sale hoarding lately). I got lots of goodies from her, so it's kind of surprising that the light pink is the one I picked, but I digress! You'll see the rest soon! (Hint: one of them is what I'm waiting for to dry ... that was an awkward sentence. Sorry.)
This mani was what I wore for my friend Cath's birthday at Hibachi. I wanted something fun and pretty, so I put on Wet n Wild Megalast Sugar Coat. This is a sheer-ish light pink, which built up decently. Below is three coats and there's lots of VNL but I don't care because I had bigger plans for it ;) (Ignore the poor cleanup on my pinky, I forget that it has a side sometimes...)
Then I added Lynnderella's One Nutty Fruitcake (oh, me and my multicolored glitters...) which is a mix of basically every color glitter except silver in a million shapes and sizes. Basically, it's pure love! I added two coats over Sugar Coat and this magic happened:
Ahhh, do you hear that? Birds singing, angels getting their wings, miracles happening... no? Just me living in glitterland?
xoxo,
Amanda

Coming soon to a glitter addict near you...
Hi, quick announcement and sneak peek!
By popular request (meaning, like, two of my followers on twitter and myself) I'm going to update you all with my rainbow glitter collection! This will affectionately be called Sparkle Saturday (or Sunday, depending when I get to posting it next weekend). I have a bottle shot of one of my lovelies, which I picked up at The Icing. Nevermind the rainbow glitter, I would have bought it just for its name: Birthday Beyotch.
Anywho, be on the look out for those! I'm just waiting on one coming in the mail and then I can start photographing! Let me know: should I just do bottle shots, swatches on a nail wheel, or swatches over black or white? Also, anybody have any guesses on exactly how many bottles of rainbow glitter I'll be showing you?
xoxo,
Amanda

OPI Rainbow Connection over Ingrid
Hi all! I told you that I livened up Ingrid 351 in my last post... and by livened up, I mean totally recreated and changed and you hardly see Ingrid anymore but it's okay because on top of her is GLITTER. This post should come as no shock to you: I bought the OPI Muppets multicolored glitter, Rainbow Connection. To nobody's surprise. (Actually, I bought two bottles, just in case... but let's not get into that now.) Anyway, I got so excited I decided to layer it over my Ingrid polish from my last post and show it to you that way, even though I built it up (mostly) to opacity. Below is two coats (with one touch-up "coat" to fill in patchy spots) and it was glorious:
I absolutely love this polish. Is anyone shocked? *crickets* What do you guys think?
xoxo,
Amanda

Orly Lemonade + $OPI Spark-tacular
Hi ladies! I'll be picking my giveaway winner soon! Thanks for everyone who entered :) I did this mani with my BFF on a Friday night. I had a tough week at work and needed to cheer myself up, so this mani is completely out of season and overly glittery but I. don't. care.
I used three coats of Orly Lemonade below to get it opaque. It was streaky, as most yellows are, but not difficult to work with. This is without any cleanup, so you can see it wasn't too hard to work with (and my painting skills are improving!). Then I added one coat of Sephora by OPI Spark-tacular for the glitter.
It reminded me a lot of a Deborah Lippmann polish, and I wanted to name it. So I'm naming this Happy Days Are Here Again :)

Amanda

Work Inappropriate #4 & Fried Koolaid
Hello girls! How are you liking this glitter series? Too much? Too often? Well, too bad ;) I have a few more planned as I top off my vacation so you'll get probably 3-4 more glitterbombs and I'll be back to normal!
Today I have a much sought after polish: Correction Tape by Wet n Wild from the On the Prowl collection. I'm stupid, though, and layered it over black when it contained black glitter. In the words of Homer Simpson: d'oh! Oh well, it still looked gorgeous!
After about a 18 hours, I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I put Love and Beauty (Forever 21) blue glitter over it:
And then added their green glitter as well:
It was a little too far from the original at this point, so I just took it all off and started with another day of my glitterness :)
And finally, this is fried koolaid:
Those of you who read my tweets already know this (and lots of you were curious about it!) but I went to a fair (The Eastern States Exposition, or the Big E) which is here every year, and my friend Nikki (holding the container) bought Fried Koolaid for us to try. It looks so weird, but it's basically fried dough with koolaid mixed into it. It tasted like fried dough but a bit sweeter, and the aftertaste was like straight up koolaid mix. Weird, but not bad!

Work Inappropriate #3
Hello again! Another day of vacation, another glitter mani :) I must say, it's been rough removing a glitter polish every day - but definitely worth it ;) Today's polish is one I bet is overlooked a lot, and I bought it off Amazon for about $2-3: Amour Rain Glitter. This is pretty similar in style to Mad as a Hatter: lots of multicolored glitter, really dense, can be worn alone for a glitterbomb.
I must say I LOVED this mani. So fun and glittery and colorful. Lots of colors of glitters in this bottle: red, pink, silver, blue, and some others I can't quite pinpoint because I get overwhelmed with the sparkliness whenever I try to look :) For those of you who craved MAAH, pick up this guy! It's not a dupe by any means but definitely fulfills that dense multicolored glitter craving!
xoxo,
Amanda

Comparison Post: Milani Gems vs Claire's Bedazzled
Good morning! Today I have a comparison swatch for you ladies. I know a few months ago, the Milani "one coat glitters" were hugely popular, but not everyone got their hands on it. I got Milani Gems through a swap a few months ago, loved it, and hadn't used it very much, mostly because it was winter and all it did was snow and so glitter wasn't really appropriate. But now it's sunny and I busted my glitters out and discovered, oh, this Claire's polish I bought the other day looks really similar, let's check that out...
Milani Gems is on the left, Claire's Bedazzled is on the right in all the pictures and both swatches are two coats.
So, you can see they're close. The large, hexagonal glitter is in the same color scheme for both: teal, pink, orange, silver, and small green glitter. The difference, I think, is that Bedazzled also has this small green glitter accompanying it. There's some medium glitter in Gems, but Bedazzled has lots of the really small glitter, which you can see in the middle of the swatch on the right side.
So what do you think? Not exactly dupes, but I think they're close enough you could buy one and not the other (whoops!) or that people wouldn't necessarily notice the difference if you were wearing one of them. And I must say, I am really stuck on the multi-colored glitter because I just bought Pinata-yada-yada at Ulta yesterday! (Yes, you read that right, I went to an Ulta! It was mindblowing. Haul pictures to come soon!)
