Monday Blues

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was pretty low key but pretty fun nonetheless. However, today it's Monday and I'm working 5 days this week (I have every other Friday off) so I'm a little bummed. Plus, we're supposed to get snow and sleet this afternoon just in time for my evening commute - how fun! So I thought this polish would be perfect: Darling Diva Polish Snowball.

Snowball has white and iridescent glitter of varying sizes and snowflake shaped glitter! Try as I might, I couldn't fish a snowflake out of there but after I emailed Carrie and she sent me a baggie of like 900 snowflakes so I can place them myself, which is pretty much what anyone who added snowflake glitter had to do because it's impossible to fish out. I can't wait to wear this again when it's snowy and with some snowflakes on my nails! This was really pretty (the base is one of the Ruby Wing color changers but I am blanking on the name and spilled acetone on the page where I listed it).

What do you guys think? I love iridescent glitter so this is right up my alley and really delicate!

We Survived The End of the World!

TGIF! I'm off work until January 2nd after today at 2 so I'm pretty psyched. Also...we seem to have survived the apocalypse if you're reading this. Win/win!

Today I have two lovely polishes in a lovely layering combination. The base is Maybelline Pink Sombrero which I got from Amanda's blog sale, so obviously it's close to my heart <3

The glitter on top is from Lynnderella's Halloween collection, Ghost of a Chance. It's iridescent glitter with sparse pastel glitters. I absolutely LOVE this.

Sorry for the dry cuticles... but not sorry at how much I love this. Happy Friday!

November Untrieds Part 4: Tuesday Two-fer

Hello again! If you're reading this, we made it through Monday, woohoo! A few people I know had the holiday off in the US yesterday so this might be the first day of your week. If so, I'm VERY jealous ;)

I'm back with another day of China Glaze untrieds! Today I have two of them, actually, because one was a glitter top-coat. Away we go!

First is Pink Plumeria, from their recent summer collection. I got this from my Secret August Santa, I believe and am ashamed to say it took me this long to wear this beauty! This was two coats, really easy application. The color is more pink than it shows in this picture.

Then, I added Make a Spectacle which was part of one of their recent collections, though the name of it fails me right now. This is iridescent glitter similar to Snow Globe, though not the same. Snow Globe has more rainbow iridescence whereas this mostly shows as yellow, green, and blue. Both are pretty (and I'll keep both!) but Snow Globe is my favorite of the two.

Application was easy-peasy. Brush it on and go. This is 1 coat.

Ta daaaa! Now go see what Madeline has in store today for her untrieds!

Lacquistry to the Rescue!

Hello again! How's it going? I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

I have a nail fail Cinderella story for you all today! I started with Sally Hansen Whisper, one of their Smooth and Perfect line which is anything but. This is, I think, four or five coats and it's still gross. It's frosty and sheer and terrible with my skin tone. Maybe layering it over white would have saved this on its own but nope. Didn't do that for this mani, so it's just this gross mess:

But then I remembered I have an entire Helmer drawer (plus a basket or two I haven't put away yet...) of indies, and one of them was this oldie but goodie, Lacquistry Frosty Marrow. Believe it or not, I was into indies far before it was huge (umm, hipster attitude much? sorry. it's true, though!), and Lacquistry was one of the first brands I discovered on Etsy.  I bought Frosty Marrow and A Friggin' Circus way back when but haven't used either yet, which is criminal. Anyway, I decided to try Frosty Marrow over the hot mess Sally Hansen and it definitely saved it!

 Frosty Marrow is lots of little iridescent glitters (one of my favorite things ever is iridescent glitter) in a clear base, and it's perfect for adding just a bit of glitter to a manicure. I actually wore this to work because it was pretty subdued but gorgeous.

Finally, here it is in low-light, which is what my hands are in most of the time since my office is in a basement and I rarely see the light of day during the week. I think this is one of my favorite shots of it! Definitely shows how delicate this mani was.
